The Amana Bank Team attended the handover ceremony of the refurbished clinic to hospital authorities at the Kalubowila hospital premises
As a responsible corporate inspired by its people-friendly banking model, Amana Bank recently refurbished the Child and Adolescents Mental Health Clinic of the Colombo South Teaching Hospital (Kalubowila Hospital).
The refurbishment project at the clinic, which is one of Sri Lanka’s limited number of facilities catering specifically to the mental well-being of children and adolescents, included upgrades such as a new coat of paint and the provision of essential furniture and equipment. These enhancements aim to create a more patient-friendly environment, particularly for individuals seeking mental health support. Additionally, several dedicated members of the bank’s staff enthusiastically participated in the color washing process, exemplifying Amana Bank’s hands-on approach and commitment to community engagement.
An event was recently held at the hospital premises to handover the refurbished clinic to the hospital authorities which was attended by the Bank’s Assistant Vice President Corporate Banking Rajendra Jayasinghe, Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications Azim Rali, Head of Orphan Care Azad Zaheed, Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Chintha Gunarathna and the Clinic’s primary consultant psychiatrist Dr. Anuradha Herath.
This refurbishment initiative builds upon Amana Bank’s longstanding partnership with Kalubowila Hospital, dating back to 2006. Since then, the bank has been involved in maintaining the hospital’s Children’s Ward, providing essential support including furniture, medicine, medical equipment as well as carrying out periodical renovations facilitating timely treatment of patients.
Bank’s Assistant Vice President Corporate Banking Rajendra Jayasinghe said: “We are honoured to collaborate with Kalubowila Hospital in enhancing mental health care facilities. By refurbishing the Child and Adolescents Mental Health Clinic, we aim to create a supportive environment that promotes healing and well-being for patients. Our longstanding partnership with Kalubowila Hospital reflects our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children.”
Further commenting on this project, the primary consultant psychiatrist of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Clinic, Dr. Anuradha Herath, shared “I sincerely thank Amana Bank for the contribution given for the development of child and adolescent mental health services at Colombo South teaching hospital Kalubowila. It really made a big difference in the quality of care we provide for children.”
