Child Eye Ltd. becomes the first eye care facility providing clinical and optical services in Sri Lanka as well as one of the few local medical institutes to be awarded the SLS 1672:2020 COVID-19 Safety Management System Certification from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI).

This certification verifies that the facility is protected from risk of exposure to COVID-19, and that all safety measures are in compliance with the Government regulations and safety measures recommended by the World Health Organization. Further, this confirms the efficient reinforcement of critical safety management practices in line with the regulated safety protocols to minimise the risks of COVID-19 within the facility. These safety measures include monitoring and reviewing of the safety measures, carrying out timely training and awareness programmes to educate staff members in order to ensure the strict adherence of the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Sharing his thoughts on the certification, Child Eye Manager Balan Asirwatham stated: “We are proud to be the first eye care services facility in Sri Lanka and among very few medical facilities to have received this certification. The safety of our staff and community is our highest priority during this global COVID-19 pandemic.

“As such, our commitment to giving our children a safe, reliable place to receive care is of paramount importance to us. Furthermore, receiving this certification from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution for our COVID -19-related health and safety initiatives is a testament to our commitment.”
