The Big Life magazine in partnership with Cipla, a leading pharmaceutical company has organised a fun cycle ride on Saturday, 7 May. to mark World Asthma Day 2022. The ride will commence between 8 and 9 a.m. from NCC, Maitland Place, Colombo 07 and is scheduled to conclude at 10.30 a.m. at the grounds. The events’ main aim is to raise awareness for asthma prevention and cures.
Cycling is one of the activities that is recommend for people with asthma. Vigorous cycling is a great aerobic exercise that stimulates lung function improvements. Of course, exercise can be one of the things that triggers asthma and this is why medical experts’ advice to exercise but follow their tips to avoid an attack like taking a lung capacity test before and after.

Data from Sri Lanka College of Pulmonologists (SLCP) shows that Sri Lanka has an estimated one million asthma patients approximately with close to 1,000 persons dying of asthma every year, in the island, in Government hospitals.
SLCP says the country was reaching a higher level in the world’s asthma statistics due to the number of persons being diagnosed with the disease while there are a total of 300 million asthma patients in the world.
