The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), dedicated to providing grant aid programs of the Korean Government, announced that on 26 October a ceremony had been held to launch a physical therapy room as part of the project for creation of a physical therapy room in Korean Clinic and improvement of medical environment at National Ayuverdic Teaching Hospital.
Korean Clinic is located in National Ayuverdic Teaching Hospital, a Sri Lankan traditional medicine ministry-affiliated organisation. It was established on September, 2003 and is giving great efforts on promoting Korean traditional medical services with Korean doctors in Sri Lanka which has treated about 22,500 patients annually.
This is the project that KOICA had supported with $ 50,000 to a physical therapy room in Korean Clinic such as physical therapy equipment and medical facilities. It is expected to provide better health for all Sri Lankan people by providing high quality medical services. Many medical doctors and staffs attended this ceremony including the Country Director of KOICA Sri Lanka office, Lee Dongku, and the Director of National Ayurvedic Teaching Hospital, Dr. Kumarasekara.
Mr. Lee hoped for the Sri Lankan Government to have vigorous interchanges with Korean traditional medicine, and that this opening of the physical therapy room helps to improve medical policies in Sri Lanka which can support a number of patients to regain their health. Dr. Kang Manho who directed the project had been dispatched as the fourth director of Korean Clinic on May, 2016. He has devoted himself not only to treat patients but also to teach acupuncture to local doctors. He has continued to provide medical support for those who visit Korean clinic and has also carried a travelling clinic regularly with his colleagues to regions with poor medical environment.
