This is a time not only Sri Lanka but also the whole world is struggling through one of the trials and tribulations mankind has to endure recently – the coronavirus or COVID-19. The coronavirus scare has brought the whole world to a halt and yes, you need to have a healthy amount of fear not to contact the coronavirus, a respiratory illness that affects its host through the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Kumari, who is already a mother of two, is expecting her next child. With a recent slight cold, she started getting really afraid that she might have contracted the coronavirus because there is already a lot of cases reporting, close to where she lives. But she could clear all of her doubts by consulting a doctor through the COVID-19 Information Hotline – 1390, initiated by MyDoctor.

To make things a lot easier for every Sri Lankan, MyDoctor, in partnership with Ministry of Health, Dialog Axiata PLC and Wavenet Ltd., has launched a free hotline – 1390 to deliver information and advice on the coronavirus. Since its initiation months back, the COVID-19 Information Hotline has already helped over 100,000 individuals who are predominantly Tamil and Sinhalese speakers, showing the appreciation among local language users.

Besides the curfew, you might have concerns over other urgent health issues that need prompt medical assistance from a doctor. The MyDoctor app comes in handy by providing a host of integrated healthcare solutions that can easily be accessed via smartphone. Moreover, MyDoctor is tied up with over 60 partnered pharmacies and 700+ SLMC registered doctors. So, getting a video call appointment with a doctor without leaving the house during the prevailing health crisis and curfew is a cinch.

MyDoctor CEO Sameera Wijerathna said, “We are happy to partner with Ministry of Health, Dialog and Wavenet and provide this service to educate the public and control the coronavirus epidemic. We could not only raise awareness among the public, but we also could identify the high risk individuals with symptoms and contact history and immediately connect them with relevant authorities for further action to ensure the safety of themselves as well as the communities they are living in.” Furthermore, he added, “We are planning to extend this service for Corona Health Screening together with Ministry of Health Sri Lanka.”

It is better to be safe than sorry. Stay indoors! For your urgent health matters, use the MyDoctor app or call the free COVID-19 Information Hotline on 1390.

Don’t forget to receive the latest corona news/information – both Sri Lankan and global stats – and to also carry out free corona screening via the MyDoctor app.
