The second Commonwealth Digital Health Conference and Awards ceremony was held on 10 and 11 October at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, graced by the presence of Minister of Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senarathne, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka Thilak Marapana and Commonwealth Medical Association and Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka President Prof. Vajira H.W. Dissanayaka.
The conference marked the launch of the Commonwealth Digital Health Initiative followed by the adoption of the Commonwealth policy brief on ‘Digital Systems for One Health’. Adding on, the event was graced by delegates from Commonwealth countries who are into health informatics, from countries like Sri Lanka, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Malta, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Norway and South Africa. The highlight of the conference was digital health mall, which showcased 35 short listed digital health innovative from above countries. MyDoctor Health App emerged Runner up in the category of Telemedicine from the stiff competition. The event was judged by an international panel of judges who were experts in digital health innovations. The winners were picked after putting through strict judging criteria some of which are, user-friendliness in submission, degree of innovativeness and strength of justification regarding the demand from the part of the consumers.
“MyDoctor Health App is not just an entry to a Telemedicine platform, but it is your wellness portal, which has connected the main stakeholders of healthcare including patients, doctors, healthcare professionals, pharmacies and laboratories. We bring convenience to doctors and people within this connected environment to deliver and receive healthcare,” said Dr. Harsha Jayakody, founder of MyDoctor.lk initiative.
It was a well-organised and a fruitful event with a bunch of pleasant memories. The event concluded after two days with the assurance that the next year’s event will be bigger and will have further participation.
