Omega Line Ltd., a leading apparel exporter in Sri Lanka and part of the Italy-based Oniverse Group, has reaffirmed its commitment towards public health and community welfare by refurbishing two ambulances in partnership with the 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation’s ‘Adopt an Ambulance’ initiative with a donation of ten million rupees.

These ambulances, now branded with the Omega Line insignia, are stationed in Wennappuwa and Vavuniya, enhancing emergency medical services in these regions.

The ‘Adopt an Ambulance’ initiative by the 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation invites corporate entities such as Omega Line to support to refurbish, maintain and operate ambulances for a period of one year, ensuring timely and efficient emergency medical care across Sri Lanka. Omega Line supported with the refurbishment of the vehicles, encompassing mechanical repairs, medical equipment upgrades, and aesthetic enhancements.

Omega Line Director and CFO Sudam Kiriella stated, “Our commitment to Sri Lanka extends beyond our significant economic and industry contribution. By supporting the 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation, we aim to bolster the nation’s healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that critical medical services are accessible to communities in need.”

Initiated in 2016 with support from the Government of India, and established by Act of Parliament in 2018, the 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation operates a fleet of 322 ambulances providing free pre-hospital care emergency ambulance services throughout Sri Lanka. The service has been instrumental in delivering lifesaving medical aid, particularly in rural and underserved areas, with an average response time of approximately 13 minutes.

By refurbishing these ambulances, Omega Line not only enhances emergency medical services in districts of Puttalam and Vavuniya but also exemplifies the impactful role that corporate entities can play in strengthening public health infrastructure. This initiative underscores the company’s holistic approach to creating a positive social impact, integrating community welfare with sustainable business practices.

Omega Line’s CSR initiatives last year included the construction of a school building for Don Bosco in Pallavarayankaddu, a new facility for the BCI campus, an open stage for Buthgampola Government School, and a spiritual dwelling for the Wetakeyawa Sri Chandrabimbarama Temple.
