The construction works of the Cardiac and Critical Care Complex, which consist of the Cardiac and Thoracic Critical Care Unit and the ICU at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital, was commenced under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena recently.
The new building complex is being built from the funds of the Government of Sri Lanka and the ‘Little Hearts’ project, with the aim of providing timely treatment for all children in need of medical care.
The Cardiac and Critical Care Complex is a 10-storey hospital wing, which will be built in Lady Ridgeway Hospital. According to Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau, the estimated cost of this project is Rs. 2 billion.
The adviser of the ‘Little Hearts’ project Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero, Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne, Deputy Minister Faizal Cassim, Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Janaka Sugathadasa, Defence Secretary Kapila Waidyaratne, Director of the Hospital W.K. Wickramasinghe and others participated in this event.
