Faculty of Medicine Dean and the Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health Chairperson Prof. Vajira Dissanayake participated in the inaugural meeting of the Global Existential Security Threats Board (Global EXIST Board) of the InterAction Council (IAC) – the association of Former Heads of Government – at the 38th Plenary Meeting of the IAC (https://www.interactioncouncil.org) in Beijing China from 8 to 10 October 2024.
He addressed the meeting and showcased the Global Futures Platform for Planet, People, and Peace - https://www.p4ppp.cwcdh.org. The platform that catalogues over 400 digital solutions that can help mitigate global existential security threats and promote world peace.
It was developed by Sri Lankan Health Informaticians undergoing training at the Southampton Hub of the Commonwealth Centre for Digital Health at the Clinical Informatics Unit of the University of Southampton, UK under the guidance of Dr. Joanna Nurse and Prof. James Batchelor. Prof. Dissanayake has been invited to join the Global EXIST Board.
