Ruhunu Hospital opened Sri Lanka’s largest Private Sector state of the art Vascular Surgery Centre while further expanding its services in the Southern Province.
Their mission is to be a leader in vascular care while advancing clinical expertise by offering an innovative delivery model of service while incorporating leading technologies & techniques as the highest care provider.
The Vascular Surgery Centre is led by Consultant Vascular Surgeon Dr. Ranjuka Ubayasiri [MBBS (COL), MS (SL) , MRCS(UK)]. Having served at Teaching Hospital Karapitiya for over 10 years, Dr. Ranjuka works alongside nursing teams and technicians to provide compassionate, top-notch care to all patients. The Vascular Surgery Centre includes a fully equipped mini theatre, six patient beds, a dedicated billing counter, hygienically improved wound cleaning area, consultation room, a comfortable waiting area, and a podiatric centre.
Having spearheaded this landmark event, Ruhunu Hospital Co-CEO Raveen Wickremasinghe stated: “Our new Vascular Surgery Centre enables us to better detect, manage and treat patients with vascular conditions. With our new state-of-the-art surgical facilities and a dedicated team of experts, we are now ready to serve patients with venous conditions, which is a first in the Southern Province.
“I have witnessed the importance of establishing a Centre for Vascular Surgery. Dr. Ranjuka is a specialist vascular surgeon who is well reputed in South Asia with over 10 years’ experience and we have entrusted him to lead this Centre.”
Co-CEO Raveen Wickremasinghe further elaborated on the premium surgical services offered at the Vascular Surgery Centre. “We have launched several new surgical specialties including angioplasty/angiography, stenting, embolectomy, bypass surgeries, amputations, and carotid surgeries carried out by highly sought-after medical experts.
“The Centre also offers podiatry care services, offering relief for heel pain, diabetic foot care, and care for foot deformities, ankle disability, arch pain, flat feet and hammertoes.”
In 2020, Ruhunu Hospital launched a state-of-the-art nine-storied modern facility known as Ruhunu 2.0, and through the establishment of this new Vascular Surgery Centre, Ruhunu Hospital has embarked on a new bold chapter in its expansion drive, becoming a healthcare leader not only to the Southern Province, but for the entire nation.
