SL Eye Donation Society delegation calls on Pakistan High Commissioner

A three-member delegation from the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, led by its President Piyadasa Hewa Wellalage, called on the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka Maj. Gen. (Retd) Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat on 19 September and discussed the donation of corneas to Pakistan.

Wellalage informed the High Commissioner that the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society delegation was visiting Pakistan next month to celebrate a landmark event in connection with the donation of 25,000 corneas to Pakistan.

Both sides mutually agreed that the donation of corneas to Pakistan would be further streamlined and in the future all cornea donations would be sent to Pakistan in close coordination with the High Commission of Pakistan in Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner appreciated the generous support and noble cause undertaken by the Society to help those in need of help in Pakistan. He extended his warm gratitude to the Society for its charitable initiative and said that gestures of such nature would further strengthen the existing strong brotherly ties that existed between the two countries.
