In celebration of World Children’s Day 2024, Sri Lanka Insurance Life extends its commitment to securing the future of the nation’s children by offering a Rs. 1 million free life insurance cover to the parents of every child born on 1 October 2024, across the island.

This initiative, now in its third consecutive year, is a testament to SLIC Life’s ongoing mission to provide financial protection to families at a crucial time in their lives while promoting the importance of life insurance as a safety net.

This free life cover ensures that parents of new-borns will have financial protection during uncertain times, creating a layer of security that helps families build a stable future. On 1 October 2024, SLIC Life implemented the program nationwide, extending its coverage across all hospitals in Sri Lanka to reach families in every part of the country. This initiative reflects SLIC Life’s broader commitment to improving the financial well-being of the community and spreading awareness about the benefits of Life Insurance.

This special project was first introduced in 2022 as part of Sri Lanka Insurance Life’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, with the goal of protecting the future of the nation’s children by supporting their parents. The success of the initiative over the past two years and the value it has provided to families have led SLIC Life to continue this vital project for the third consecutive year, making a lasting impact on countless lives.

Sri Lanka Insurance Group Chief Executive Officer Chandana L. Aluthgama said: “As a responsible organisation, our commitment towards the wellbeing of children goes beyond just financial protection. With the current challenging economic conditions, a safety net for everyone is essential, and we believe that insurance for all is a must. In 2022, we launched this project to provide free life insurance cover for children born on World Children’s Day, ensuring that their families have the financial protection they need. Additionally, we have introduced several insurance solutions, designed to secure the uninterrupted education and realisation of dreams of our children. Our commitment extends beyond just insuring lives; it’s about nurturing the dreams and aspirations of every child.”

To mark this special initiative, a ceremonial event was held at Castle Street Hospital for Women in Colombo, where representatives from Sri Lanka Insurance Life, hospital staff, and families gathered to celebrate this significant milestone. The event underscored the importance of life insurance in securing a brighter future for Sri Lanka’s children and their families.

Through its Rs. 1 million free life cover program and other initiatives, Sri Lanka Insurance Life has set a new benchmark for the insurance industry, highlighting the importance of comprehensive financial protection for all. As it continues to grow, SLIC Life will remain dedicated to creating a brighter and more secure future for all Sri Lankans, with children at the heart of its mission.
