The Sri Lanka National Institute of Professional Counsellors (SLNIPC) yesterday said it was offering free counselling services for members of the public including those who are in the frontline of the virus control program who are mentally affected due to the current COVID-19 crisis.

“The mental health of many people could be affected due to this ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. These could be either minor or major mental problems. These could be as a result of long-running family problems or it could be due to fears and uncertainty that have cropped up due to the coronavirus,” the SLNIPC said.

The institute said that whatever the problem, it would provide counselling for people who need assistance at this time free-of-charge. The services will be provided by registered and trained counsellors.

Those who need assistance can contact the institute on the following numbers: +94 71 8699 225.

The institute also said it appreciated the measures taken by the President, all members of the healthcare services and members of the armed forces to control the spread of COVID-19.
