The Sri Lanka Cancer Society is celebrating 75 years of dedicated community service by providing vital care and support to those affected by cancer. Its mission has always been guided by the principle that all cancer patients are entitled to the very best care, regardless of their social, cultural, or economic backgrounds.
The Sri Lanka Cancer Society operates and maintains the Shantha Sevana Hospice for terminally ill patients and provides a residential care facility at the Bandaranaike Memorial Cancer Homes for patients seeking treatment from Apeksha Hospital while helping them live in comfort and dignity by meeting all their spiritual, physical and emotional needs.
The Sri Lanka Cancer Society reaches out to needy cancer survivors by providing them with drugs and funds to resume their daily lives and activities which is important aspect of the its function in the sphere of offering solace and care.
In celebration of its 75th anniversary and as a major Fund raiser, a Cancer Walk and fun fair was organised on the 29 July 2023. This was a very special event as Sri Lanka Cancer Society was able to fulfill the objectives of commemorating its 75th anniversary and raising much needed funds for the services it provides needy Cancer patients and Cancer survivors.
Over 1000 people joined the walk and the support was truly overwhelming which made it a successful and memorable event.
