Impressed with the work done by hoteliers, Swiss companies have come forward to donate medical equipment to the Ministry of Health through The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL).

Swiss Medical Assets Technology GmbH and Aero Lines GmbH based in Switzerland, overwhelmed with commitment and solidarity the hotels in Sri Lanka demonstrated towards the people of Sri Lanka by assisting the Government in its efforts to control the virus, donated Rs. 15 million worth of medical equipment to further assist its cause.

Hotels in Sri Lanka joined forces with the Government by converting their facilities into intermediate care centres for COVID-19-positive patients to ease the burden off the hospitals and this initiative has been instrumental in providing enough beds for patients.

Swiss companies, in a joint statement, have said they were highly impressed with this unique gesture by Sri Lankan Hoteliers and got in touch with THASL to facilitate this donation to be given to Government-run hospitals in the country. Their donation comprises heavy duty automatic hand sanitiser machines, antigen test kits, surgical face masks and PPE kits, which was presented to Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at the Ministry of Health.

THASL President Sanath Ukwatte, whilst appreciating the fine gesture made by the Swiss companies, invited them to participate in future community projects carried out by THASL.
