The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) recently appointed Dr. Sajeeva Narangoda to its international panel of hospital surveyors. ACHS is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare in Australia through the continuous review of performance, assessment and accreditation.
Dr. Narangoda is a double professional holding a very rare combination of a Degree in Dental Surgery and a Chartered Management Accountancy qualification (CIMA, UK). His special interest in hospital administration and health economics led him to obtaining a Masters Degree in Finance and Management from the University of Keele, United Kingdom in 2004.
During his career, he has held many senior positions in healthcare institutions both in Sri Lanka and in the United Kingdom. Dr. Narangoda is currently the Director / General Manager of Browns Healthcare, a member of Browns PLC which was established with a vision of setting up a chain of secondary care general hospitals in Sri Lanka.
The ACHS was established in 1974 and is the leading independent authority on the measurement and implementation of quality improvement systems for Australian healthcare organisations.
Hospital accreditation is a formal process to assist in the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare, based on standards and processes devised and developed by healthcare professionals for healthcare services.
ACHS has accredited over 1400 hospitals and medical centres across Australia and Asia. There are many hospitals in Hong Kong, Middle East and South Asia where ACHS has granted hospital accreditation.
