Banker to the Nation, the Bank of Ceylon recognising its Corporate Social Responsibility is taking a leading role in the dengue prevention awareness campaign that will be conducted at schools islandwide on 5 July.
This epidemic has re-emerged in most parts of the country, causing a number of tragic incidents. One of the potential causes for this resurgence is the clutter and untidiness of the environment, caused through a negligent attitude.
This is the second consecutive year that the Bank of Ceylon is pledging initiatives of this nature with timely commitment towards this social requirement as it was identified that proper education and surveillance is essential to keep the public continuously alert on this resurgence.
The Bank of Ceylon with its 618 branch network has organised a Dengue Prevention Shramadana Campaign on Saturday 5 July each BOC Branch engaging selected schools, covering all districts of the country. Each campaign will be organised by BOC branch members along with the participation of parents of the school children, Police, Public Health Inspectors and authorised officials of respective local authorities. The motive of this task is to destroy any occurrence of mosquito breeding grounds in each of those selected schools.
Dengue prevention posters will be displayed at schools and public places for further awareness of the epidemic. It is noteworthy that BOC Ran Kekulu children’s savings account covers medical insurance coverage for 10 critical illnesses including dengue.
This insurance scheme pays Rs. 600 per day up to 30 days at a Government hospital or provides cover of a medical bill at a private hospital up to a maximum of Rs. 100,000.
The Bank of Ceylon believes that this is a collaborative task and that all stakeholders in our society should actively participate, therefore it requests the public to take initiatives to eradicate this plague from the country.
