Recent advances in cardiac sciences showcased
Global Hospitals & Health City along with The Forte Group and leading consultants of the cardiology department of the National Hospital, Sri Lanka, conducted a scientific session on the ‘Recent Advances in Cardiac Sciences’ on 3 October.
This session was attended by around 150 doctors and proved to be extremely enlightening as many important papers were presented and case studies were discussed.
Forte International, a member of the Forte Group, has been appointed the strategic partner for Global Hospitals Group of India, on account of the strong hold the Forte Group has in the healthcare industry. Forte International, together with Global Hospitals, hopes to provide a long term and lasting solution to Sri Lankan patient’s medical needs, together with the support of the local medical fraternity.
“We emphasise the fact that we cannot do this by ourselves, but will work alongside our Sri Lankan doctors to bring relief to patients,” said Chairman and CEO Forte Group M.F.A. Riyas.
Senior Consultant Cardiologist National Hospital Sri Lanka Dr. Ruvan Ekanayaka was the Chief Guest at the session, while Dr. W.S. Santharaj and Dr. P.N. Thenabadu (both Senior Consultant Cardiologists, National Hospital Sri Lanka), were Guests of Honour.
Dr. N. Madhu Sankar, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Global Hospitals & Health City, Chennai spoke on ‘Heart Transplantation,’ while Dr. Joy M. Thomas, Head of the Department and Director, Department of Cardiology & Cardiac Electrophysiology, Global Hospitals & Health City, Chennai made a presentation on ‘Recent Trends in Management of Heart Failure’ (Management of Aneurysm) and Dr. A.G.K. Gokhale, Senior Consultant & Head of Department, Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery, Global Hospitals Hyderabad expressed his views on ‘Minimal Access Bypass Surgeries’.
“In the event that a patient seeks medical assistance at Global Hospitals, all they have to do is contact the helpline or email the Forte Group by accessing their website. Based on their inquiry we ask them to bring across their medical reports which in turn are couriered to India and depending on the gravity of the patient’s condition, a diagnosis is sent within 24 hours. Depending on the diagnosis and the patient’s wishes, we then arrange for them to be sent to India for treatment,” said Riyas.
To date the Forte Group has held two CME programmes, with this being the third. The first was on liver transplants and endosonography, which was organised through the Association of Gastroenterological and Digestive Endoscopy Society of Sri Lanka.
On this occasion world renowned Professor Mohammed Rela, the number one liver surgeon in the world (mentioned in the Guinness Book of records for having performed a liver transplant on a five-day-old baby), Dr. S. Palaniappan, along with the founder of Global Hospitals Dr. K. Ravindranath, were the guest speakers.
The second CME programme was on neurosciences, which was organised through the Association of Sri Lankan Neurologists with the guest speakers being Dr. N.K. Venkataramana, Dr. J.K.B.C. Parthiban and Dr. S. Dinesh Nayak.
