2 3Browns Hospitals Ragama commemorated one year of achievement last month, in a multi-religious ceremony with traditional customs.

This celebration recognises all of the hospital’s achievements and the staff’s dedication in making Browns Hospitals the place to go to, for the best in healthcare. The hospital has seen significant growth and expansion; currently employing almost 200 employees, an impressive database of some of the best consultants and physicians and having incorporated the latest in technology.

Since Brown & Company PLC’s (Browns) acquisition of the former St. Peter’s Hospital in February 2015, the Group’s vision was to strategically establish itself in the country’s healthcare sector, with a long term aim of setting up a chain of secondary-care general hospitals and diagnostic centres to deliver comprehensive healthcare services for patients outside the hub of Colombo.

“Browns Hospitals’ technology and equipment has lived up to our expectations as a model for 21st century hospitals. More importantly, our patients and their families continue to share positive feedback about the hospital and our focus on patient and family-centred care. What BH has accomplished in the past year is remarkable, but I’m most excited for what comes next,” said CEO Dr. Iraivan Thiyagarajah.

The establishment has invested significantly in the hospital’s infrastructure and medical technology, recruited key staff members, added and expanded services, and has become a vital supporter of the Ragama community organisations.

Along with this expansion, Browns Hospitals aims to enhance its in-house medical services in terms of adding on cardiology, nephrology, cancer and fertility to its portfolio. The entity’s long term vision is to be a market leader in the healthcare industry in providing affordable and quality healthcare. It is foreseen, operations in the hospital as a system and quality driven organisation with further expansions of setting up clinical services in selected locations.

Browns Hospitals has earned a reputation as a household name among the residents of Ragama. The hospital is now setting up strategies to reach out to Colombo, the outskirts of Colombo as well as the Eastern and Northern Provinces.

Browns, in its investment in healthcare, has made its mark in the industry with providing affordable, quality and innovative healthcare to every Sri Lankan through comprehensive integrated clinical practice, state of the art facilities, including modern CT and MRI scanning, and advanced medical and surgical therapeutic technology. Also providing personalised care while aiming to continuously enhance the value proposition to its stakeholders through innovative and patient centric solutions. Plans are underway to operate three hospitals, including the current hospital in Ragama by the year 2018.

It is a privilege to be part of an organisation that delivers high quality services and innovative solutions to its clients, develops and enhances the healthcare facilities and solutions to the societies in which we operate. Browns Hospital is an organisation led by a vision and purpose to make a positive, meaningful impact on the lives it touches. I believe that we are uniquely positioned to become even more integral to advancing the way we care and deliver services across the nation, stated Dr. Thiyagarajah.

As an organisation, a fundamental fact for the foreseeable future is being able to adapt to the ever changing healthcare environment and its demands. Browns Hospitals will also concentrate on introducing high quality diagnostic centres with deep geographical penetration to support early diagnosis of various non-communicable as well as communicable diseases, thereby providing easy access to major healthcare for the citizens residing in remote parts of the country.
