Ceylinco Diabetes Centre promotes screening in November

Free tests, discounts and a special package for diabetes screening are on offer at the Ceylinco Diabetes Centre throughout this month to mark World Diabetes Day which falls on 14 November.  

The special diabetes screening package includes a Body Mass Index (BMI), Vision Check, Fasting Blood Sugar test (FBS), HbA1C test, lipid profile, Full Blood Count (FBC), urine full report, urine microalbumine, ECG, eye consultation, dietary advice and a complete physical examination and consultation with an in-house medical officer.

those who purchase this package will receive a free refraction test, free audiogram, free foot assessment and a free dental assessment, the centre said. Visitors to the centre in November will also get the chance to purchase a glucometer, which is used to test the blood glucose level, at a discount of 45 per cent on the regular price.

Each individual will be given a detailed report based on the doctor’s assessment and the results of the tests. If the evaluation of the results shows any abnormal conditions which require follow up, appointments can be made for a second consultation with a doctor. “Many people have diabetes but are unaware of their condition,” said Dr. Charuky Weerasuriya, the Senior Medical Officer at the Ceylinco Diabetes Centre. “We are constantly seeking to create awareness of the importance of screening since managing the disease is easier when it is diagnosed at an early stage.”
