More than 60 participants attended to the CME including consultant transfusion physicians, senior registrars and medical officers

Premium International Ltd. and its partner Immucor USA sponsored a Continuous Medical Education (CME) under the patronage of the Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine (AATM) Sri Lanka Chapter.

The program championed by the Training Unit of the National Blood Center under the theme of ‘Best practices in transfusion and transplant medicine’ was held on 8 September at the National Blood Transfusion Services, Narahenpita.

Key objectives of this CME were to share latest knowledge on transfusion and transplant medicine and global practices to the doctors who are actively involved in blood transfusion in Sri Lanka along with the practical knowledge.

Immucor flew in three guest speakers, Dr. Ramona Chopra representing Immucor and Dr. Anil Tarigopula and Dr. Ankit Mathur, two Indian specialist in this sphere.

The main focus was on HLA system and various methods of HLA types, pre transplant testing practices for kidney transplant, impact and use of DSA test and the role of single antigen testing in solid organ transplant by way of lectures and practical demonstrations.
