Gastritis is one of the most reoccurring and growing medical problems in Sri Lanka, which silently plagues those even in the best of health, said Dr. Sumith Rajapura from the Rajapura Weda Medura in Pelawatta. “Today gastritis is on the increase due to a range of factors associated with the stressful and busy lifestyles,” he said. “We find that many people do not drink adequate water and their meals even if taken at the right time, are not nutritious.” Dr. Rajapura is well known for having concocted an Ayurveda medicine from an age old manuscript that cures gastritis and other stomach ailments almost immediately. The Panchabala Amurtha Panaya is considered one of the most effective Ayurveda treatments for gastritis. The medicine is also effective for stomach ailments and headaches among others. “The potion is a mixture of 22 rare herbs, but the formula is nothing new,” he said. “It’s been passed on for generations, but four years ago, we decided to make it available to the mass market.” Now available at island wide Ayurveda pharmacies and all supermarkets, the Panchabala  Amurtha Panaya  cures the diseases in one or two days. It may take a few weeks to regenerate the health. The healing response is one of the most complex and coordinated activities within the human physiology and often cannot be strengthened without the patient’s personal conscious efforts. According to him, those with a family history, or even those who smoke and drink are very susceptible to have gastritis. He added that the detection of gastritis is important because not doing so early enough could lead to chronic ulcers and even cancers. “Some of the main causes of gastritis include, allergies to certain medicinal drugs, food poisoning, physical stress, post surgery, severe injuries and insomnia,” he said. “However nowadays even young children have it and the reasons are understandable but it needs to be treated fast.” Gastritis is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach which results in the impairment of the secretions leading to indigestion, burning sensations and discomfort. The Panchabala Amurtha Panaya is sugar free and as such it can be taken by those with diabetes. Since the ingredients are all herbal in nature with no chemical additives, it can also be taken by young children. Dr. Rajapura is available for consultation on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pelawatta Rajapura Veda Medura and can be contacted through 0773131070 or 0115727519.
