Farmchemie became the first and only veterinary pharmaceutical company in Sri Lanka, to hold the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 and GMP quality awards.

The UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) elected to present the award to Farmchemie via SGS United Kingdom systems and services certification following a comprehensive systems audit by SGS Lanka.

At the awarding ceremony, Farmchemie Managing Director Uditha Wanigasinghe, welcomed the participants and explained why Farmchemie was determined to obtain such quality awards.

He pointed out, “As the company desired to ensure only the premium products reached its customer base, imports were only from world renowned suppliers who were holders of quality certifications such as ISO, GMP.  “In order to carry the same quality assurance being given by the supplier to the end-user, Farmchemie streamlined its operations to meet the required standards to obtain internationally recognised quality awards, GMP for which the guidelines are laid out by the WHO and ISO 9001:2008.

“By obtaining such internationally recognised quality awards, Farmchemie would prove beyond doubt to all its stakeholders the legitimacy of the undertaking of high quality standards given in its quality policy.”

He went on to say that “Farmchemie wanted to bridge the gap for the large scale poultry processors who maintained international quality standards but did not have inputs providers who supplied products and services in par with the same international quality.”

SGS Manger Certification B.A. Sumanasir explained the importance of such quality standards to an industry and advantages of dealing with such company followed by the official presentation of the awards to the Managing Director of Farmchemie.

Department of Animal Production and Health Director General Dr. Kumar De Silva explained the significance of such quality standards to them, as Chief regulators, when a company maintains such quality standards and thanked Farmchemie for initiating, of its own accord, such standards and invited the remainder of the suppliers to follow the example set by Farmchemie.
