The most common causes of cancer death are lung, stomach and liver cancers, with cancer rates set to increase at an alarming rate globally. One third of the cancers can be prevented by lifestyle changes; we can cure another third, and provide good, palliative care to the remaining third requiring such treatment.”
Dr. Mathangi went on to say that the world’s most advanced radiation therapy technology, TrueBeam STx, the first and only one of its kind in the whole of the Asia Pacific was housed at Global Hospitals, Bangalore.
“It is an advanced radiation therapy machine engineered to perform the most sophisticated radiation therapy and radio-surgery procedures with pinpoint accuracy and ultra-fine precision. It works by choreographing highly sophisticated systems-imaging, beam delivery and motion management, and makes it possible to deliver treatments quickly while monitoring and compensating for tumour motion. It enables faster, accurate tumour targeting in the treatment of challenging cancers throughout the body, including those in the brain, pancreas and liver,” said Dr. Mathangi.
Global Hospitals Group Executive Director, Marketing and Strategy C. The advantages of TrueBeam STx for cancer patients requiring radiation therapy are numerous. “It is the one and only intelligent machine which has the capability of performing all types of radiotherapy techniques including the complex radiosurgical procedures like stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) by itself. The unparalleled unique versatility of the machine gives the radiation oncologist, the freedom of tailoring the best suitable treatment for each patient and enables the medical team to deal with a variety of complex tumours with ease.”
Equipped with advanced imaging, the TrueBeam STx delivers treatment more accurately by enabling Clinicians to actually “see” the tumour they treat and target tumours with sub-millimetre accuracy, which helps protect nearby healthy tissue and critical organs.
