Sixteen employees of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the leading pharmaceuticals and vaccines company in Sri Lanka, were felicitated for loyal service recently at the company’s annual Long Service Awards.
The employees honoured this year included two that have completed 25 years at GSK, five who have served the company for 20 years and nine who have 15 years of service.
Addressing employees and their family members at the customary gala event at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Stuart Chapman, Managing Director of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Sri Lanka, observed that these long serving, loyal employees have left their footprints for others to follow. “Your contributions will live on in the company and times of GSK for a long period,” he said.
Pointing out that there are many demands that are made on employees over time, and necessary changes in the company, he noted that these employees that have worked at GSK for 15, 20 and 25 years have faced such demands and managed and adapted to changing environments. Handsome commemorative plaques and other rewards were presented to these long standing employees at this ceremony. Apart from their contributions to the company, these awards recognise commitment to the company’s mission to enable people to ‘do more, feel better and live longer’.
GSK and its predecessors have been doing business in Sri Lanka since the late 1930s. A world leading pharmaceuticals and vaccines company, GSK is the only pharmaceuticals company to tackle the three ‘priority’ diseases identified by the World Health Organization (WHO): HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
