Healthy Life Clinic – 10 years of a unique medical centre with an outstanding vision

Healthy Life Clinic (HLC), a comprehensive outpatient medical centre is located in an unassuming building, in the heart of Colpetty, just carrying out its mission quietly but effectively. 

HLC was started 10 years ago, as Healthy Life Diabetes Clinic, to address the growing needs of the people with diabetes, as a one stop diabetes care centre. It is well known for its wholesome care of the diabetes patient. It also brought to the forefront the need to educate the patient in order to control diabetes better. One of the first centres to have its own dieticians and diabetes educators, the team worked tirelessly to improve the care as well as the knowledge of the diabetes patient and his family.

HLC also became a forerunner in increasing diabetes awareness among the general public. With the help of its consultants, other socially responsible corporates and pharmaceutical companies, HLC was often the first institution to bring new ideas such as diabetes awareness discussions, diabetes camps, diabetes prevention fairs, races and many more innovative meetings, all in keeping with their clear vision of reducing the burden of diabetes in Sri Lanka.

Over the years, HLC has expanded to include more GPs and specialists in their panel. Now there are general practitioners, physicians and specialists ranging from paediatricians, cardiologists to dermatologists, as well as other allied medical specialists such as physiotherapists, psychologists and speech therapists practicing at Healthy Life Clinic. 

Now Healthy Life Clinic operates with three parallel focus. Its diabetes care centre continues to thrive with simple but comprehensive options such as Diabetes check-up packages as well as its SMART D program

Its second focus is family health care through their panel of GPs who provide exceptional care and compassion. They also provide home care for the elderly. The fact that HLC also has specialists, helps the GPs communicate easily with the relevant specialists if need be to complete the care for the patient. 

The third emerging focus of Healthy Life Clinic is its Corporate Health Care arm. Going a step further than just doing annual medical checkups for companies, HLC specialises in understanding the health needs of the company executives and instituting programs to continuously improve and impact on their health. This stems from our understanding that a person spends most of his productive life within a corporate framework and that health is an important denominator for productivity.
