Hemas Hospital, the only internationally accredited hospital in Sri Lanka recently launched its Haemodialysis operations - the first such facility in the Gampaha District. The new dialysis centre is equipped with Fresenius 4008 S Hemodialysis systems and a team of highly trained nurses and medical officers with round the clock support of paramedical staff. The dialysis centre was declared opened by Hemas Hospitals Chairman Murtaza Esufally and the event was graced by leading nephrologists and physicians of Hemas Hospital, Wattala. Addressing the gathering Esufally stated that the motive of setting up this facility goes beyond the commercial aspects of it. “Patients with chronic kidney disease will have convenient and easy access to our facility at Wattala and most importantly we offer the lowest price in the private sector which eases the financial burden of those who can’t afford dialysis in the long run,” he said. “We have seen the amount of pain and agony of patients with chronic kidney disease. The starting of dialysis is just a one small step towards helping them and we are committed to secure them a better tomorrow,” he added. He pointed out that Hemas Hospital, Thalawathugoda has already performed a number of kidney transplants and the plans are underway to expand nephrology related services. The first dialysis patient of the new unit, Kenny Rodrigo from Negombo expressed his satisfaction over the excellent service he received during his stay at Hemas Hospital: “I was delighted by the care and concern shown by the nurses at Hemas Hospital, and it was a wonderful facility indeed.” Patients will be able to book the dialysis facility by dialling 0117 888 888 throughout the day or by walking in to Hemas Hospital Wattala.
