Hemas Hospitals open fully-fledged medical laboratory in Kurunegala

Hemas Hospitals, the only internationally accredited hospital chain in Sri Lanka, added yet another laboratory to its ever expanding network of satellite laboratories recently to serve communities at its best in a proactive manner. The laboratory was opened on 2 July 2014 amidst a distinguished gathering attended by the Chief Minister, North Western Province Dayasiri Jayasekara, Governor North Western Province Tissa Balalle, Mayor Kurunegala Gamini Peramunage, Provincial Health Minister D.B. Herath, Member of Parliament Ashok Wijesinghe and the Heads of Hemas Hospitals. The new lab located at 140/C, Colombo Road, Kurunegala is the 14th such lab that comes under the wings of the satellite laboratory network solely owned and managed by Hemas Hospitals, which is the fastest growing such network in Sri Lanka. The lab, which is fully equipped with the state-of-the-art technology and manned with academically and professionally qualified staff with SLMC registration, is capable of performing wide range of laboratory investigations necessary for patient care. Furthermore, the investigations carried out by Hemas Hospital laboratory are scrutinised by an eminent panel of pathological consultants. Dayasiri Jayasekara, gracing the occasion as the chief guest said, “Improved healthcare facilities is a yardstick used in measuring development of any area. We are grateful to Hemas Hospitals’ laboratory services for selecting Kurunegala to set up a laboratory. We warmly welcome them to Kurunegala. I hope communities in this area will be greatly benefited from their precise and quality services.” Dr. Rohan Sugathadasa, General Manager, Laboratory services at Hemas Hospitals, speaking at the opening said, “We offer a unique healthcare proposition since we reach out to the communities outside Colombo. Ability to make our presence here therefore, is a significant milestone in our expansions.” Hemas Hospitals initiated its satellite laboratory network four years ago in 2010 with the launch of its first in Ragama. So far, it has widened its spread steadily and rapidly up to 14 branches with a strong presence in Ja-ela, Gampaha, Negambo, Chilaw, Karapitiya, Sri Jayawardenapura, Norris Canal and Kalubowila.
