Hemas Hospitals – Wattala awarded at National Business Excellence Awards 2014

Hemas Hospitals – Wattala, the flagship hospital of the internationally-accredited hospital chain in Sri Lanka, was recognised as the runner up in the healthcare category at the prestigious National Business Excellence Awards 2014 organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka recently. This annual event is aimed at encouraging local business organisations by recognising them for their proven business excellence and contribution to the economic progress of the country. It includes strict evaluation criteria with a framework of seven key elements including excellence in leadership, corporate governance, capacity building, performance management, local and global market reach, corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability and business and financial results for organizations to prove on to emerge as award winners. Commenting about the award, Dr. Samanthi de Silva, General Manager and Head of Medical Services, Hemas Hospitals – Wattala, said: “Hemas Hospitals constantly strive for excellence in service delivery and better clinical outcomes for our patients. In addition to the international accreditation from the Australian Council on healthcare standards international, the hospital has secured ISO 9001 and 15189 standards for its laboratories and OHSAS 18000 standard for occupational health and safety to stand out as the most awarded hospital in Sri Lanka.
