IIHS now being the premium institute for healthcare education offers Bachelors in Nursing Degree. Students can complete this program, offered by the Open University Malaysia (OUM) at IIHS (Welisara) whilst being supervised and guided by locally and internationally qualified academics.

Whilst the Bachelors in Nursing Degree is recognised in the global healthcare arena, it also provides a Sri Lankan degree holder to be employed as a registered nurse internationally where they will be provided with the opportunity to earn a large salary. The Bachelors in Nursing Degree is offered to nurses who are in the government and private sectors, and for those who hold a Diploma in Nursing. If the applicant is a nurse from the government sector, he/she will be given 30 days of study leave. Students who wish to join batch 15 for the degree at IIHS must apply before January 2017.

Many nurses who have obtained this degree currently employed nationally and internationally at well recognised healthcare institutes. In addition to completing the Bachelors in Nursing Degree, students gain an opportunity to improve leadership skills and also participate at research conferences. Pradeep Samanjeeva, completed the Bachelors of Nursing at IIHS and is a registered nurse from the Karapitiya Hospital and is currently working at Medicines Sans Frances Organisation (Doctors without Borders).

Additionally past IIHS students from the government nursing sector Sriyani Padmalatha, Colin Sriyantha and Asela Seneviratne have presented at conferences nationally and internationally. The program is structured to suit working professionals and therefore students will be able to devote time for study during the course of their employment.
