Dialog customers have donated Rs. 15 million for the Little Hearts Project at the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Colombo, for the construction of a 10-storey Cardiac and Critical Care Complex for children.
Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, Dialog Axiata, enabled its 11 million plus customers to contribute to the project by donating Star Points for Little Hearts, prior to points expiring at the end of the year. Star Points is the country’s largest mobile-based loyalty program, where customers earn and spend points with one point equalling Rs. 1 in value.
As at 31 December 2016, Dialog customers had donated Rs. 15 million to the project, and the funds were handed over to Dr. Duminda Samarasinghe, Project Coordinator of the Little Hearts Project. The project is conducted by the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians, and the facility will feature four cardiac theatres, a catheterisation laboratory, over 100 cardiac, medical and neo-natal intensive care beds, plus, advanced cardiac investigation and training facilities. The construction is estimated to cost over Rs. 2 billion.
