MARKSS Healthcare (MARKSS HLC) one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies in Sri Lanka, is in the process of establishing an island wide regional distribution hubs and warehousing complexes for their pharmaceutical, neutraceutical items, medical equipments, devices and utensils.
This new approach of MARKSS was launched by opening the company’s very first medical Regional Distribution Centre in the city of Galle under the patronage of Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody recently.
The regional centres are designed to ensure many elements of the supply chain to the customer. It serves to ensure the quality of drugs right to the customer which aids MARKSS’s vision in attaining the state of “the most admired pharmaceuticals company in Sri Lanka”. Through this venture, MARKSS will have control of its distribution to the point of the chemist. In addition the regional hub is capable of handling orders rapidly with a higher degree of efficiency. According to a company spokesperson, the company plans to introduce a number of Regional Distribution Centres throughout the country further strengthening its distribution channels. Chief Guest, Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody addressing the gathering said, “This is a special day for the city of Galle. In a period where Galle is developing rapidly over other areas, the contribution by MARKSS Healthcare towards the betterment of the healthcare sector will positively play a direct role to the whole development programme in this area. We are well pleased to see the standard of living in the Southern Province significantly growing.
As an example many patients from the Uva Province and the Kalutara District have a tendency to arrive in Galle for their health needs. We are privileged and encouraged by the support rendered by a responsible corporate like MARKSS Healthcare.
Rajiv Nanayakkara, Chairman/Managing Director - MARKSS HLC elaborating on the Regional Distribution centre strategy said, “We are able to achieve this feat within a very short span of time simply because, MARKSS Healthcare has always introduced the very best in the healthcare.” Senior DIG in charge of the Southern Province Wijaya Amarasinghe speaking at the ceremony said, “We have reached very high levels in terms of security in the Southern Province, and at this phase we would concentrate working with civil organisations to further develop the health sector in this region and we would like to invite MARKSS Healthcare to join hands with us”. Dr. Ramesh Pathirana Member of Parliament, Galle District; Wing Commander M. H. C. Rupasinghe Commanding Officer, Sri Lanka Air Force Koggala base; Professor Malik Gunawardene, Professor of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, Galle; Dr. A. P Kannangara Dermatologist and many specialists, consultants, doctors and chemists participated at the opening ceremony.
