Nawaloka Hospital offers single balloon endoscope for greater patient comfort

SBE utilises a 200-centimetre long flexible fibre optic endoscope, a thin tube which is two centimetres in diameter, with a light and camera at the tip. It is fitted with an equally long over-tube that slides along the full length of the endoscope. Sri Lanka’s only SBE, available at Nawaloka Hospital, is the preferred option for examination, as only a single balloon is used. This significantly reduces examination time and, at the same time, significantly improves patient comfort levels.
