Nestlé, the world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness company, and widely acclaimed child nutrition leader across the globe yesterday launched a next generation growing-up-milk formula in Sri Lanka.

The first and only product in the country to offer the double benefit of both DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and PREBIO, NESLAC Excella 1+ promises to revolutionise the scope of child nutrition products here.

NESLAC Excella 1+ is a growing-up-milk formula developed by the world renowned Nestlé Research Centre (NRC) at Lausanne, Switzerland for children between the ages of one to three.

Offering consumers a Swiss formula rich in DHA and Prebiotics (PREBIO, Nestlé Lanka’s latest scientific innovation will ensure the continuity of high quality child nutritional products from its world renowned infant formula to growing-up-milk formula incorporated with the latest science in child nutrition.

NESLAC Excella 1+ will be available in all leading stores and will cost Rs 500 for a 400 gram packet.

Speaking on the launch, Nestlé Lanka Plc Managing Director Alois Hofbauer said: “Nestlé is the undisputed leader in child nutrition the world over and our scientists lead the field in food and nutrition research across the globe.”

“As the world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness company, we are extremely pleased to be able to bring a real and superior innovation to the market –the first growing-up-milk formula with both DHA and PREBIO-backed by one of the world’s leading research facilities in food, nutrition and life sciences; the Swiss Nestlé Research Centre. We are proud to be able to deliver our promise of ‘Good Food, Good Life’ once again,” he said.

Although the benefits of DHA are well known in Sri Lanka, its combination with PREBIO, a Nestlé proprietary that seeks to enhance the Nutrition, Health and Wellness (NHW) delivery of the company, is a first.

The product is also guaranteed by Nestlé scientists as having the optimal ‘nutritional profile’; that is, the right blend and right quality of essential fatty acids provided in the right combination to ensure optimal nutrition.

“Our double benefit offering – DHA and PREBIO or ‘Protect Smart’ – addresses a strong and growing need of mothers across the globe for a veritable and superior nutritional product for toddlers once they are weaned.

“We are confident that this product will become a strong pillar of growth for Nestlé Lanka” Hofbauer said, adding that the 400gram product will sell at Rs. 500 and be available at all leading outlets across the country.
