Durdans Hospital has recently invested in building its capacity to cater to various cosmetic care needs with its ultra-modern cosmetic care centre named ‘Enhance’.

The centre will cater to local and foreign patients with a high standard of care for just a fraction of the cost. The quality of patient care being assured by the hospital is in accordance with the standards required by the Joint Commission International (JCI), an extremely rigorous accreditation organisation based in USA.

Durdans Hospital Director Medical Services Dr. Wimal Jayantha stated: “Durdans Hospital is please to introduce a Cosmetic Care clinic which is supported by skilled clinicians and guided by the highest international standards for health and safety of patients. A clean environment for procedures is maintained under guidance of standards set through Joint Commission International (JCI) which Durdans has received the Gold Seal of Approval for Patient Safety and Quality of Care.”

Treatment provided by this new centre will mainly aim to enhance the way people look and feel about themselves. This will be done by looking into the physical, and when necessary, the psychological aspects and the way people feel about their appearance. Thus doctors will delve into the root causes of such issues and help patients achieve more satisfactory results.

“At the skin care clinic dermatologists will identify the specific root causes for age old dermatological problems such as acne and pimples, stretch marks and open pores, and thereafter provide a permanent solution. High speed laser hair reduction procedures will also ensure no side effects, no pain and immediate recovery. Botox injections, skin boosters and PRP skin rejuvenation therapy will also be available to fight the effects of ageing,” Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. T. Sabesan stated.

For those who wish to take a step further, facial rejuvenation and facial contouring surgeries such as a face lift, facial implants, chin shaping (Genioplasty), lip shaping (Cheiloplasty), nose shaping (Rhinoplasty) and ear shaping (Otoplasty) can also be arranged.

Under the more complex cosmetic surgical category, Enhance will perform such procedures such as breast enhancement implants and breast reduction, liposuction, tummy tucks and many other plastic surgery procedures that help patients to reshape their body and regain confidence.

The cosmetic surgery industry is worth over $ 20 billion annually and this number is expected to rise further. The demand for such treatment has also been on the rise locally as Sri Lanka continues to develop. Doctors have seen many patients travel overseas to receive the care they need due to the lack of a suitable treatment centre that assures patient safety in Sri Lanka.

The centre will tap into this rising market and provide the necessary treatment at a fraction of the cost of receiving such care overseas. The hospital has also seen a number of foreign patients who have travelled to Sri Lanka to receive treatment and the panel of doctors stated that they see a real possibility of expanding the services provided by Enhance to the medical tourism sector.
