In a landmark partnership in national healthcare, Hemas Hospitals signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government-owned National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF), to be the preferred hospital for their members. Through the partnership, government sector employees who are entitled to NITF’s health insurance scheme called ‘Agrahara’ can avail themselves of high quality private healthcare services at specially discounted rates from any of the Hemas Hospitals’ multi-chain. The MOU was signed by NITF Chief Executive Sanath C De Silva and Hemas Hospitals chain Managing Director Dr. Lakith Peiris in the presence of NITF Chairman Manjula De Silva and Hemas Hospitals Chairman and Group Director Murtaza Esufally.
The union of Hemas Hospitals and NITF means that all public sector employees who are automatically ‘Agrahara’ members are entitled to any of the 58 surgical packages at discounted rates, especially designed for NITF. Other benefits include in-patient discounts such as 10% discount on the room charges, 10% discount on all laboratory investigations and 10% discount on radiology investigations. Out patients will have a special 10% discount on all lab investigations plus a 10% discount on radiology investigations.
NITF Chairman Manjula De Silva speaking on the affiliation said that presently there are over 700,000 government sector employees who are Agrahara members and over 2.5 million beneficiaries. “We are very pleased to be partnering Hemas Hospitals and enabling our members access to private, top class healthcare,” he explained.
“Hemas Hospitals has consistently been in the forefront and maintained leading edge healthcare in our country.” This partnership will blend the best elements of NITF’s well established medical insurance advantage with the outstanding clinical excellence of our hospitals to create a cost-efficient new offering,” said Hemas Hospitals Chain Managing Director Dr. Lakith Peiris.
“Through this affiliation, our membership, spread across the country can avail themselves of high quality clinical services through the Hemas Hospitals network in Galle and the suburbs in Colombo,” explained NITF Chief Executive Officer Sanath C. De Silva. “Our health insurance becomes more meaningful now as our beneficiaries have a choice of private hospitals for their treatments,” he stated.
The 200 plus bed, multi chain hospitals in Wattala, Thalawathugoda and Galle are all stamped with the crown of all international accreditations; the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI). The gold standard sets them ahead of others in patient safety, adding to client and medical profession trust, underscoring their commitment and tremendous strides in providing the highest quality of care to their customers. This ensures that the hospital chain is always in the forefront of healthcare in Sri Lanka. This affirmation by an independent reviewer situates the chain among an elite group of hospitals across the world. Hemas is the only hospital chain in Sri Lanka to receive re-accreditation after a stringent and arduous audit.
Hemas Hospitals Chairman Murtaza Esufally speaking on the association said, “This is a historic milestone for us and we are proud to partner NITF in providing our hospital’s healthcare services to their beneficiaries, who now can access affordable and exclusive services plus consult our top-rated network of medical professionals.”
Hemas Hospitals since its inception has established trust among millions of health conscious Sri Lankans and continues to be committed to high quality healthcare. The hospitals based in the suburbs of Colombo and in Galle town, have the infra-structure, capacity and capability to attend to the most advanced medical care which greatly benefits the resident population of the area.
