President Maithripala Sirisena opened the newly built ward complex and the dental surgery unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital (Fever Hospital) on 2 February.
This ward complex was constructed with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Army for treatment of dengue patients.
The President presented mementos to Commander of Security Forces (West), Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe appreciating the assistance provided in constructing the buildings and for the Sri Lanka Navy for deploying nurses for the hospital.
The President, who declared open the new ward complex and registered the first patient who was admitted to the ward. Thereafter he had cordial discussion with the patients. He also observed the Wards.
The President opened the new Dental Clinic and appeared for a group photo with the soldiers who contributed their labour to build it.
Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senarathne, Member of Parliament S. M. Marikkar, President’s Project Director and the SLFP Organiser in Kolonnawa, Prasanna Solanga Arachchi, Director General of Health Ministry Jayasundara Bandara, Director of Hospitals Dimuthu Rathnayaka and the Specialist Doctor Ananda Wijeywickrama were among those participated at this event.
