Orthocare, Sri Lanka’s leading orthopedic supplies company recently introduced a novel concept called ‘Navasti’ which brings total health care under one roof, for all patients with spine and limb ailments.
Patients with spine and limb ailments such as back pain and knee pain generally have long periods of illness at times. This often requires different modalities of treatment with different health care persons to work as a team to provide the best possible cure.
Dr. Ashan Abeyewardene, Chief Executive Officer of Orthocare Ltd which operates ‘Navasti’ said, “We are fully aware of the logistical difficulties in taking such patients to multiple places. We thus offer all available modes of treatment for diseases of the spine and limbs under one roof, in a modern, computerised state-of-the-clinic in the heart of Colombo.”
“As an example, for the management of back pain, an orthopaedic surgeon, rheumatologist, neurologist, physiotherapist, orthotist and occupational therapist must get involved. We are fully geared to bring this team together at Navasti, as well as other alternative allied medical specialists such as ayurvedic and spinal manipulative therapists, chiropractors etc,” Dr. Abeyewardene added.
‘Navasti’ also offers the best consultants in various specialties. In addition it brings vascular surgeons and plastic surgeons, under one roof, for the care of varicose veins and diabetic foot problems. Added to the team are also sports physicians. With a consultant sports medicine doctor on call, Navasti is also geared to treat all kinds of sports injuries, as well as injury management and the rehabilitation of high profile sportsmen, thus completing the total health care solution.
“The treatment we offer is centralised at Navasti where the patients’ data and complete medical history are fully computerised. This facilitates easy cross checking and cross reference by the different specialised medical personnel who will attend to a single patient during a specific period of time,” Dr. Abeyewardene said.
The parent company, Orthocare, provide all items from braces and prosthetic limbs to joint implants and tumour prosthesis. It brings a wide range of products at very affordable prices and is the only registered manufacturer of orthopaedic braces in Sri Lanka with a large and rapidly growing clientele.
