Serum Institute of India receives ‘Best Suppliers Award’ by SPC

Serum Institute of India Ltd. one of the main pharmaceutical suppliers for Citihealth Imports Ltd., was recognised as the winner of the ‘Best Suppliers Award’ for pharmaceuticals for Government Hospital Supplies at the 17th State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Convention held on 18 and 19 July 2014 at Jetwing – Yala.
They were recognised for their exceptional collaboration and support, as well as the demonstrated ability to perform at the highest level based on specific health needs.
The Chief Guest at the Award Ceremony was Senior Minister for Scientific Affairs Prof. Tissa Vitarana, in the presence of SPC Chairman Prof. S.D. Jayaratne.
The award was received by Director Asoka Senanayake and Citihealth Imports Ltd Marketing Manager Kapila Samarawickrama.
Serum Institute of India Ltd is the largest supplier of vaccines to the Ministry of Health and have been affecting supplies to Sri Lanka for over 25 years. This company has been assisting the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health to eradicate most of the infectious diseases effectively, and making Sri Lanka a benchmark to the rest of Asia. They have assisted in combating dreadful diseases such as Tetanus, Tuberculosis, Rubella, Whooping Cough, Diphtheria and Mumps very successfully.
Serum Institute of India Ltd is also the largest manufacturer of human vaccines in the world and is one of the largest pre-qualified suppliers to UNICEF and WHO for their global expanded program of immunisations. Within the scope of these operations, the company’s products reach more than 140 countries in the world.
