SLCPI reiterates need for medical reps to follow Code of Conduct

The Sri Lanka Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) has reiterated the need for medical representatives to strictly follow the professions Code of Conduct.

This was emphasised during a meeting with the managers of pharmaceutical companies convened by the SLCPI.

The meeting provided an excellent dialogue on how best to minimise the possible negative perceptions that might be caused due to some pharmaceutical representatives who still fail to follow the Code of Conduct set in place by the SLCPI over three years ago.

The meeting, which was very well participated, was the forum to discuss the prompt action taken by pharmaceutical companies represented by the chamber against their representatives who have fallen short of the Code of Conduct and future steps to ensure the prevention of any such irregularities.

It was chaired by SLCPI President Ananda Samarasinghe, Secretary Sudarshana Jayasinghe, Vice President Stuart Chapman and immediate Past President Adrian Basnayake. The special guest speaker at the conference was Dr. Anil Jasinghe, President of the College of Medical Administrators and Director of Teaching Hospital, Colombo South who spelt out the framework under which medical representatives of pharmaceutical firms should conduct their business within the parameters of medical institutions.
