Colour My World (CMW) is an organisation initiated by like-minded individuals, dedicated as an organisation to strive and utilise our experience, in working with children with special needs as a small effort to bring about awareness and to help these vulnerable children in Sri Lanka.

CMW was founded in 2011 by its President Fahmy Rahman and the two Vice Presidents Giselle Dass and Rameez Javeed.

Our vision is to build a society which ensures inclusiveness and participation of these children, and in order to achieve our vision we are committed to create and promote community awareness, education and development of individual skills.

In 2011 as well as in 2012 CMW organised an annual autism awareness charity run. The primary goal of this event was to bring about awareness on autism amongst the larger population of Sri Lanka, including teachers and health care workers and to introduce programs such as the Son-Rise program as powerful and effective methods of helping children and adults diagnosed as autistic.

Furthermore, we wish to provide necessary facilities in Sri Lanka on a larger scale for parents to receive the required start-up training to adopt the Son-Rise program in their homes at a lower cost rather than having to travel to the US.

With the successful runs of both years CMW has raised funds to introduce the Son-Rise program to parents with autism children as well as to bring a child facilitator down from the US.  This professional trainer will assist in training parents and their volunteers and provide necessary information on vital skills necessary to help their children and to improve their quality of life.

For parents who are interested in watching play sessions from the child facilitator to have a better idea about the Son-Rise program, and how to implement the same in their own homes, there are eight sessions available from 12 to 15 March 2013.

Five parents will be allowed to attend per session, whoever interested in the program please contact [email protected].

Additionally starting from April, CMW will be organising weekly seminars for a total of eight weeks, of which will contain one hour presentation each with discussion time after.

The seminars will give the basic tools to start your own Son-Rise program at home. Seminars are only available for parents for the moment and but later will be available for volunteers and teachers and other professionals as well.
