The Sri Lanka Chamber of Medical Devices Industry, established in 2015, held its second Annual General Meeting on Friday, 9 December. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and the Guest of Honour, National Medicines Drug Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Chairman Professor Asitha De Silva. The event was attended by the key stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, National Medicines Drug Regulatory Authority, State Pharmaceutical Corporation, and Biomedical Engineering Services.
Speaking at the AGM SLCMDI President T. Sayandhan said, “The Sri Lanka Chamber of Medical Devices Industry is a regulated, equal opportunity and ethical industry that pursues to create lasting solutions for the healthcare needs of the nation.”
Drifting away from the Sri Lanka Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry, the Sri Lanka Chamber of Medical Devices Industry (SLCMDI) was formed with the intention of specifically representing the fast-growinginnovative industry of medical devices and equipment and addressing their own issues. Now functioning with 40 members, with the potential of 70 member in the industry the chamber focuses on earning and maintaining the trust and loyalty of the specialist, officials and regulators, patients, members and society at large by appointing four subcommittees, namely Regulatory, Suppliers, Membership and PR subcommittee which committees achieved its planned milestones in the year 2016.
