Essilor Lanka Ltd., a premier optical lens manufacturer in the country, announced the launch of its state-of-the-art digital laboratory at a launch event held at The Kingsbury on 5 May.

ESL is a collaborative venture with Essilor India, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Essilor France. Essilor is the world’s best optical lens manufacturer, with its branches situated around the world. The company functions with continuous innovation and development with the tag line of ‘see the world better’.

An ESL spokesperson stated: “It is for the first time in history that a global optical lens manufacturing conglomerate such as Essilor initiated a collaborative venture with a Sri Lankan company. This venture is a large contribution to the local optical industry and also for its development. While infusing the world’s best and latest lens manufacturing technology into Sri Lanka, through initiatives like the digital surfacing lab, Essilor Lanka will continue to upgrade and enhance the productivity and quality of all opticians in Sri Lanka.”

He further stated: “Earlier, opticians would have to spend a lot of time, effort and money to import lenses from overseas and deliver them to customers. But with Essilor Lanka, it would take just a matter of days, at extremely feasible prices.”

At the event an open invitation was extended to all opticians in the country to make use of Essilor Lanka’s state-of-the-art digital lab, thus providing customers with international standard optical lenses within a very short time.

The Guest of Honour for this event was the Economic Counsellor of the French Embassy of Sri Lanka alongside the regional Director of Essilor France and officials from Essilor India.
