Sri Lanka’s biggest eye care company Vision Care Optical Services (Pvt) Ltd., yesterday launched the country’s first ever loyalty program in the optical service industry.
With the aim of doubling customer comfort and convenience, Vision Care launched the VC Loyalty card earlier this week, where the first three cards were presented to Ministry of Civil Aviation Secretary Dr. Ravindra Ruberu, Lady Ridgeway Hospital Consultant Pediatrician Dr. Dilrukshi Ruberu, and Hayleys Advantis Chairman Mohan Pandithage.
According to Vision Care Sales Manager Srimantha Wewalwala, the scheme provides a plethora of benefits to its customer base.
Highlighting a few of its features, Wewalwala said that the program is integrated with a Digital Patient Record system which enables opticians to electronically maintain a patient’s information. “This system was employed so that through improved service quality, errors and costs could be reduced,” Wewalwala said. While the card has a point rewarding system that could be redeemed against purchases, it will also record details of customer’s preferences and transactional data which can be viewed by any of its 25 branches spread across the country. “Customer care is the core value of our organisation,” asserted Vision Care Chairman/ CEO Dasantha Fonseka while pointing that it is the only optical services company in the country with an ISO certification. He noted that the company is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities along with the presence of trained staff for specific testing requirements. “At Vision Care our staff do not multi-task. Each employee is specialised in the work he or she is assigned,” Fonseka pointed out.
He stressed that Vision Care is a one-stop eye-care solution for all customer segments. “We have from the cheapest frames to the most expensive ones. We choose not to cater to a particular group since we want to reach out to all Sri Lankans,” Fonseka said, disproving a market misconception that Vision Care caters only to high-end customers.
He further stated that with making available custom-made prosthetic eye solutions, Vision Care conducts mobile eye camps, whereas deliveries within Colombo are done for free. In addition to this, home visits for eye and ear testing for the elderly and disabled are also facilitated.
Having a vision of establishing its presence in all districts by 2018, Vision Care is rapidly expanding its branch network to cater to its fast growing client base. Fonseka revealed that by having mobile camps in areas such as Trincomalee, the foundation to set its business there has already been laid. An 80 perch property in Hambantota has also been acquired and soon people in that region will be able to enjoy Vision Care’s services. The company has also ventured into hearing solutions and is taking all measures to specialise in that area of expertise as well.
