An interactive hands-on skills training workshop on stroke care and rehabilitation was successfully conducted at the General Hospital, Monaragala recently. This was a collaborative effort between the Ragama Stroke Unit and the National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka.
There were 130 participants and 21 resource persons. Health staff from the following hospitals participated at the workshop; Moneragala, Badulla, Wellawaya, Bibile, Buttala, Hingurukaduwa, Ethimale, Siyambalanduwa, Dambagalla, Handapanagala, Hambegamuwa. Participants rotated between the training stations of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing care, bladder care and mental health support.
The workshop was conducted by the Stroke Team of the Ragama Stroke Unit, Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Ragama, and they were supported by resource persons from General Hospital, Moneragala and General Hospital, Badulla.
The National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka regularly conducts outreach interactive training programs on stroke care in various parts of the country, in collaboration with the Ragama Stroke Unit.
