Overtourism – demand chain far exceeding what the supply chain (ecosystem) can handle.
Obsessed with numerical milestones, with inadequate focus on the tourist experience and infrastructure.
Impact on the environment – the ‘real cost’ of which is neither accounted for nor mitigated.
Due to tourism-led commercialisation, locals-felt inflation of real estate, rents, consumables etc.
Disproportionate wealth concentration in ‘pockets’ of the value chain.
