It is not the first time a financial institution has got into trouble. It is certainly time for some ‘soul searching’ on who and what triggers such collapses.
nThe financial institution – for irresponsible
lending?
The borrowers – for not paying up?
The laws – for lenient and lengthy process to punish offenders?
The depositors – for chasing ‘greedy’ returns and/or financial illiteracy?
The regulators – for not taking preventive action?
The auditors – for not blowing the whistle loud enough?
The media – for the lack of financial-investigative journalism?
Time for a holistic approach, to ensure the ‘health’ of the financial services industry.
