99X Technology emerges joint winners at Mercantile Quiz Competition

Bringing out the best of the breed, 99X Technology emerged as Joint Mercantile Champions at the ‘IQA Wisdom Ultimate Quiz Challenge’, organised by the International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka.
This leading table quiz event in Sri Lanka was held recently at the Kingsbury Colombo for the eighth consecutive year where teams comprising of five members battled right to the top. Exhibiting its popularity, this year’s Wisdom Quiz was attended by over 40 teams representing various schools, educational institutes, mercantile firms, banks and financial institutions, and independent groups.
IQA Country Representative for Sri Lanka Ruwan Senanayake stated, “We were the pioneers in introducing the audio visual based questions for table quizzes and I as the compiler of questions always endeavour to meet the standards set by the IQA. This is the only table quiz held according to IQA rules and standards.”
Commenting on this achievement, 99X Technology CEO Mano Sekaram stated, “We are delighted to have participated in the IQA Wisdom 2013 and been judged as Joint Mercantile Champions. As thought leaders in the IT industry, this goes on to showcase our talent beyond just delivering software product engineering services globally.”
Concluding a very tough competition and after a two-tie break, three teams including 99X Technology remained on the top, joined by Dialog Team A and IFS, whilst the overall winners were Chamara Sumanapala’s team. Other winners included Royal College Team A and HNB Team A.
The members of 99X Technology comprised of Shirantha de Alwis (Associate Tech Lead and Team Leader), Ivantha Senevirathne (Senior Software Engineer), Rangitha Kuruppu (Trainee Software Engineer), Ravindu Madanayake (Infrastructure Management Engineer) and Navaka Nawaratne (Process/Management Associate).
The quiz comprised of 50 questions in 10 questions per round based on five areas namely current affairs, sports, general knowledge, space and astronomy, arts/literature and entertainment.
