International Women’s Day 2022 was observed at CLS on 08 March at a simple but meaningful ceremony where the biases and preconceived notions that women face were described in an interesting introduction.

Amsafe Bridport; a leading aviation product manufacturer General Manager Chandani Ekanayake was the guest speaker, who connected to the event virtually. She spoke of the importance of focusing on the quality of what is delivered and that females can succeed in a male dominant industry by remaining committed to achieving the end result.
Director Shehani Kulathunga who is one of the oldest employees of the organisation was invited to speak on how she broke biases during her 22year journey in freight forwarding. She went on to speak about how it is important for females to capitalise on opportunities given and to mentor others.
CL Synergy Founder and Managing Director Roshan Silva described the history and purpose of IWD and reiterated the company’s commitment to its female employees. He mentioned that several key positions of the company are held by females including a board director, air freight director and COO and that the management has always looked to provide opportunities to the best talent irrespective of gender or other social factors.
Pursuant to the company’s charity calendar and sponsoring of charities on a monthly basis, a donation of Rs. 100,000 was made to Emerge Lanka Foundation during the event.
All the ladies of CLS were given a token along with an inspirational note which read ‘Gender does not define capability or skill. Know your worth and pursue your dreams’.
The program concluded with all those present being reminded of the unconscious biases that affect our thought processes about both men and women and how all of us need to be mindful of such biases that hamper the progress of the world.
