The fourth installation of ceremony of Ceylinco Life Toastmasters Club was held recently at Ceylinco Life Auditorium. It was an unforgettable night for the club members, where a new Executive Committee was installed and 16 new members joining the prestigious family of Toastmasters International.
The event proved to be a glamorous one with the participation of company directors and several officers of Toastmasters International, including the Chief Guest Devaan Cooray (Director – Human Resources and Training) and Ranga Abeynayake (Director – Dy. CFO). TM Shuvo Hridayesh (Division E Director), TM Ranishka Wimalasena (Immediate past Division E Director) and TM Shantha Senarath (Past Division Director) were among many other participants.
The club’s growth, its members’ achievements in the preceding year as well as club’s events were elegantly showcased at the ceremony. TM Chulaka Kumarasinghe was awarded for his achievement in wining Table Topic Competition at Club Level, Area Level and first runner up award at Division Level. TM Gayan Lakmal Alwis was awarded for his outstanding achievements in International Speech Competition and TM Durka Sivanathan for her outstanding achievements in Humorous Competition.
For the year 2017/18, Ceylinco Life Toastmasters club was placed in following highly dedicated and energetic individuals, who were ceremonially installed by Division E2 Area Director TM Jagath Wickremasekara.
In her acceptance speech, TM Shyamala emphasised on the importance of public speaking skills and invited members to take on the challenge by saying: “If you trust your heart, Ride it into battle. Don’t be afraid and take the road less travelled.”
Ceylinco Life, the market leader in life insurance, established the Toastmasters Club in 2014 in line with Toastmasters International’s vision to ‘empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders’.
